Amanda Johansson - Sweden

My name is Amanda Johansson. I am 17 years old but I am turning 18 in November. My birthday is actually at Thanksgiving, which this year is Nov 23 rd. That is very exciting for me, because we don't celebrate it in Sweden, where I'm from. I've been promised that I'm going to have my own turkey!

I came here to The United States at the end of August, and since then I have had the time of my life. I have seen and done so many fun things and had the opportunity to meet a lot of nice people. I've been very well received by everyone and I think that's one of the reasons why I haven't been home-sick yet. I've noticed that a lot of things are different from that I'm used to, but I like it very much. The biggest difference so far is the school. The whole system is quite different, but in a good way.

I'm really enjoying being an exchange student and one of the main reason why I applied to be one, was that I wanted to get the opportunity go try new things and make new friends, and I'm sure this is going to be a fantastic year. I really appreciate everyone kindness, thank you!

Hey All of You!

How are things going?
Anything new happend since i left or what?

I am so sorry I haven't sent an e-mail sooner, but you see I have been extremely busy. I am trying to catch up on everything here in Sweden that I missed during my year abroad. A day or two ago I found out that we have a new prime-minister here... :/ Ha ha and I guess he started in September of last year, so he's not even that new (?!) Yeah, that do you expect ?! ;)

School is good, I am taking my senior year now so I have tons of stuff to do. It is hard to remember everything from my two previous years, but I'm trying my best. I don't know a lot of people in school any more so I am also trying to make new friends... It's especially hard when you know that you can never make so many great friends that I did in America.. :´( I really miss everything I had in America, yeah I miss my american-life.. My exchange year went by so quick and i just wish I could rewind time and come back.

I promise to write more often...Take care you all, and stay safe!
Love - Amanda

SIRINUT "NUT" SAWATDEENARUNAT

Hi,my name is Nut, (pronounced "not".) I'm from Thailand. And now I'm a senior at Sauquoit Valley High School. I take 9 classes without study hall. They are English , Global Studies, Biology, Pre Calculus, Choir, Health education ,Food & Nutrition, Computer Graphic + Graphic Communication and Gym. I enjoy all the classes but I like Food & Nutrition the most. I think I learn a lot about American cooking and I'm sure I will be using it when I go back. I join some activities in school such as school concert, school play. I'm also a manager of the girls tennis team and I will join the Interact club soon. I think the one easy way to make friends is to do lots of activities. I really made some good friends from all of my activities. I was a guest speaker at Sauquoit Valley Community Club once. I really enjoy it because people will know more about Thailand. This is one way to present my beautiful country. I went to visit some college with my first host sister, Megan Smith at Lehigh and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Long Island, New York. And I went to Potsdam, N.Y. with my second host sister, Allison May Who went to Argentina as a exchange student last year. I also went to Toronto, Canada last October for Rotary District Conference. I went there when the leaves changing their color, they're really pretty. And I went to New York City last December. I went to The Empire State Building , Central Park ,FAO Schwartz and Radio City. I really like the Christmas show at Radio City. It's the greatest show , I've ever seen. I also went to Boston to visit my aunt and grandma. I went to the place that the King of Thailand was born. And I'm going to Virginia Beach for my Senior trip and in July I'm going to the Rotary cross country trip around America. At last I want to thank you to everybody for everything. Thank you for making this year is the most wonderful year of my life. I hope we'll keep in touch when I go back to Thailand. You will be in my memories forever. Thanks again.

Email from Nut, October 12, 2006

Hello there,
How's everything?? It's Nut live from Cambridge, England where it rains a lot. hehe Arrived safe and sound here 2 weeks ago, but finally got my own Internet connection. There are only 10 people in my program and 7 of them are Chinese!!!! Had my first class this week, didn't understand much, but hopefully I will later on. Was gonna join the debate club here but the membership fee is 50 pounds per year, so I joined Winnie-the-Pooh club instead. Can you believe they actually have winnie-the-pooh club!
The food here sucks. I'm here for two weeks and haven't found anything I want to eat again. So I decided to cook myself, taste good actually.
I'm getting a bike soon and will bike to school. I'm getting fit. It's getting colder here, but not as cold as in Sauquoit of course. Life here can be quite lonely sometimes. I miss the life that I can talk to people any time I want. So come visit me some time okay?
I have a big room and can accommodate people.
