The Sauquoit Rotary Club was chartered in 1955 with 21 members. Meetings were held at Gasper's Hotel in Clayville for several years and then moved to the present location at Orchard Hall. F. Wright Johnson was the first president of the club and then became District Governor in 1962.

One of the first projects of the Sauquoit Rotary Club was providing a JOY LIFT gift of food and presents to a family or several families at Christmas time who were having financial troubles. The Club raised money by holding an annual Roast Beef Dinner which continued until the mid 90's but was dropped due to changing membership. The major fundraisers for the club are now the Mothers Day Rose Sale and a “Duck Derby” held on the Sauquoit Creek behind Homogeneous Metals in Clayville. Every year we erect a Holiday Crèche on Oneida Street to help everyone get the holiday spirit.

The first Interact Club in District 7150 was started in 1964 by Sauquoit. The Interact Club in the Sauquoit High School assists us with our fund raisers and has its own agenda for providing help to our neighbors and is very active supporting local and international projects.

Around 1970 the Sauquoit Rotary Club started to support the efforts of the Town of Paris to build a new Recreation Park and contributed to build swimming pools in the park. The Club then built a
ROTARY PAVILION and with financial and physical help of The Interact Club built a GAZEBO on the hill overlooking the pond in the park.
